Itinerary highlights:
Travel to the highlands – Once the group is ready, you’ll be transported by private vehicle (usually an open-air bus) to the upper part of the island to begin the hike.
Sierra Negra Caldera Rim – Hike along the rim of the Sierra Negra Volcano caldera (approx. 2 km), which offers stunning views of the active, 10 km-wide crater.
Chico Volcano – Brief rest before continuing the hike toward the Chico Volcano, where you’ll walk over lava fields and enjoy panoramic 360° views of Isabela Island. On clear days, you can see Santiago, Pinzón, and Fernandida Islands in the distance. Time to have lunch and enjoy the scenery.
Return – Descend back along the same trail to the starting point.
